Popularly referred to as the ‘hip hop messiah’, rapper, M.I, is 34 on Sunday, October 4. To celebrate the ‘Bullion Van’ lyricist, here are ten things you need to know about Nigeria’s Mr Incredible.
- The Chocolate City rapper was born Jude Abaga in Jos, Plateau state.
- He is the brother to fellow Chocolate City act, Jesse Jagz.
- He has released over 30 singles and has featured with various artistes including Ice Prince and Waje.
- M.I was also a judge on Glo X-Factor competition in 2013.
- He has been involved in two significant beef in the industry with Kelly Hansome and Iceberg Slim.
- Many fans have compared him to American rapper, Kendrick Lamar.
- M.I was appointed a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador in 2012 and was recently unveiled as Martell’s brand ambassador.
- He has won over 13 awards including Best Hip Hop act at the 2009 MTV Africa Music Awards.
- He has also gotten about 20 nominations since he began his career in 2003.
- He is currently the CEO of Chocolate City Records, the label founded in 2995 by lawyer, Audu Maikori.
