Nollywood royalty, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, has returned to the big screen after a three-year hiatus.
And the 38-year-old Last Flight to Abuja actress is landing with a bang in a movie that will remind fans of 2002 The Prostitute for its risqué value.
Titled Alter Ego, the new movie sees Omotola go on a romp as Ada Igwe, a woman with multiple personality disorder.
Her role in the new movie calls to mind scenes from The Prostitute for which Omotola and director of the movie, Fred Amata, received a lot of backlash.
That movie tells the story of a young girl named Veno, a young woman forced into prostitution by harsh circumstances.
Speaking to Encomium magazine in 2015, Omotola confessed that her role in The Prostitute threatened her marriage.
“The only time I would say I worried about was when the movie, The Prostitute came out,” she said.
“From the movie poster to the sex scenes, whatever in that movie that was shot after I left there but was shot as if I was the one who did it.
“And you know; Nigeria was not ready for that, so there was a lot of a controversy around that. So, that was the only time I really worried about my marriage.
“And to be frank and candid, until my husband told me he wasn’t bothered, then I had peace,” the mother of four said.
Alter Ego was produced by Moses Inwang.
Apart from Omotola, the movie stars Wale Ojo, Elvina Ibru and Esther Eyibio.
It will be released in 2017.
