Fifteen more staff of a customer experience provider, iSON Xperiences, in Ibadan, Oyo State, have tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).
The new cases were among 19 in Oyo reported by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday night.
Governor Seyi Makinde tweeted early Thursday, saying that of the 19 new cases in the state, 15 were from iSON Xperiences, a company provides services for two of the biggest telecommunications firms in Nigeria.
The governor also stated that two coronavirus patients were discharged.
“Two confirmed COVID-19 patients have received their second NEGATIVE test results and have been discharged. This brings the number of discharged cases in Oyo State to forty-eight,” he wrote.
“Also, the COVID-19 confirmation tests for nineteen suspected cases came back POSITIVE.
“Fifteen are from iSON Xperiences in Ibadan South West Local Government Area (LGA), 2 are from Ido LGA, 1 more person from Ibadan South West LGA and 1 from Ibadan South East LGA. So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State is 162.”
Qed.ng had reported on Monday how 30 out of 31 coronavirus cases reported in Oyo State on Saturday, May 18 were all staff of iSON Xperiences.
It also reported on Wednesday that six of the company’s staff tested positive for the deadly virus.
This brings the total number of staff of iSON Xperiences confirmed to have COVID-19 to 51.
