The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 30 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the country.
The agency first tweeted on Tuesday night, confirming 19 cases.
It said: “Nineteen new cases of #COVID19 have been reported as follows: 14 in Lagos, 2 in FCT, 1 in Kano, 1 in Akwa Ibom, 1 in Edo.
“As of 09:20 pm 14th April there are 362 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. 99 have been discharged with 11 deaths.”
Moments later, the agency confirmed 11 more cases in Lagos.
Lagos now has 217 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the Director-General of NCDC, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, has said that to measure efficiency in COVID-19 testing, NCDC set a target to test 2,000 samples per day in Lagos and 1,000 daily in Abuja.
“The lockdown was a difficult decision but a short-term strategy to prevent an exponential increase in COVID-19 cases.
“We will utilise the next two weeks as efficiently as possible and allow the economy restart in order to protect the health of Nigerians,” he said.
