Adenike Adeniji, from Lagos State, was on Saturday, October 22, crowned Miss Independence Nigeria 2016 at Ibeto Hotel, Apo in Abuja.

Blessing Ene from Benue State emerged first runner-up and was declared Miss Independence Nigeria Peace.
Others are Victoria Odole from Ekiti, Miss Independence Nigeria Culture (second runner-up), Blessing Peter from Imo, Miss Independence Nigeria Unity (third runner up), Gift Anwuacha from Abia, Miss Independence Nigeria Tourism (fourth runner-up).
Organised by Link-UP Entertainment, headed Linda Philips, Miss Independence Nigeria 2016 was attended Nollywood actors Charles Inojie, Charles Awurum and Paul Sambo among others.
Adenike succeeds Susan Michael, a 22-year-old undergraduate of the University of Lokoja, who took over as Miss Independence Nigeria 2015/2016 after the last pageant winner, Nneze Richards, was dethroned on September 29, 2016.
