Two new members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kano State have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, the state coordinator Aisha Tata said on Monday.
The coordinator said two out of 826 posted to the state tested positive. She spoke during a news briefing after the swearing-in of the 2020 Batch ‘B’ Stream A corps members.
She said the corps members were tested immediately upon arrival at the orientation camp and that they were taken to relevant facilities for further medical investigation.
“As you have seen, we have provided all the necessary prevention facilities and ensured that all the corps members used them.
“We have also ensured comprehensive fumigation to ensure that the camp remains a clean environment for the corps members,’’ she said.
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje called on the corps members to remain calm and participate in all activities with open minds.
Ganduje assured the corps members of their security, safety and welfare throughout their one-year stay in the state.
The governor was represented by the permanent secretary, Kano State Ministry of Youths and Sports Development Ibrahim Ahmed.
