Twenty persons have been confirmed dead after a 21-storey building collapsed on Monday on Gerrard Road in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State.
Southwest coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Ibrahim Farinloye gave the latest figure on Tuesday.
According to him, the body of the personal assistant of the managing director, Fourscore Heights Limited, Femi Osibona, who owned the building, had been recovered.
Commissioner of police Hakeem Odumosu also confirmed the casualty figure.
About nine persons have been rescued alive. It was gathered that three of the rescued victims were released to their families, while others were being treated at the Lagos Island General Hospital, Marina.
Relatives of those trapped in the rubble protested against what they described as the slow pace of rescue effort at the scene.
It was gathered that a member of the National Youth Service Corps, identified as Zainab, was among those trapped in the rubble.
