The 20 medical students, who were kidnapped in Benue State on August 15, have been rescued.
Their release was coordinated by the office of the national security adviser Nuhu Ribadu with help from a team sent by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, PUNCH reports.
Other bodies who assisted in the rescue operation were the Department of State Services (DSS) and military personnel, with support from Benue State Government.
The medical students were taken captive along Otukpo/Otukpa/Enugu federal highway while travelling to Enugu State for the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students’ annual convention.
The IGP’s team arrived in Benue State on Monday and deployed immediately to Otukpo in search of the students.
