Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Godwin Emefiele on Thursday held a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Aso Villa, Abuja.
The meeting followed a directive from the president that all heads of government parastatals, which includes Emefiele, and political appointees who are seeking elective offices in the coming election year should resign.
Emefiele refused to disclose the reason for his meeting with President Buhari.
“There is no news now, but there will be news. You heard me, I said there is no news, but there will be news,” he told journalists at the State House.
Asked what he thought about his presidential ambition causing anxiety locally and globally, the CBN governor said he was having fun over the development.
“Let them have heart attack. It’s good to have heart attack. I am having a lot of fun,” he said.
Emefiele recently approached a court, seeking declaration that he is eligible to contest the presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) billed for May 30 without resigning.
Before heading to court, he said on Twitter that he had not decided on running for president after a group bought him the N100 million presidential forms of the APC.
