No less than 257 poems have been submitted for the proposed anthology, Wreaths for a Wayfarer, in memory of Prof. Pius Adesanmi.
Adesanmi was part of 157 people who died on March 10 when an airplane crashed in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The anthology, editors say, would be published in the last quarter of the year, by Daraja Press in Canada and Narrative Landscape Press in Nigeria.
The submissions have come from established and budding poets in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, and South Africa.
Poets in Canada, Italy, Netherlands, Sri Lanka, India, United Kingdom also contributed to the project.
Also, a 10-year-old Nigerian-Canadian boy was said to have submitted poems for consideration.
The editors thanked all for their submissions, adding that final decisions on submissions will be communicated to all who submitted by the end of May.
