For allegedly attempting to steal a three-year-old child from her school, Samuel Ubadire, was on Monday brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court.
He was, however, released on bail in the sum of N200, 000 with one surety.
The accused, 29, had appeared on a charge of attempting to steal a child to which he pleaded not guilty.
Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Kehinde Omisakin told the court that the accused committed the offence on January 18 at 3.00 p.m., at Champions Baptist Academy at Trade Fair Complex, Alaba in Ojo area of Lagos.
She alleged that the accused attempted to steal a child (name withheld) after school hours.
“The accused tried to lure her before taking her away.”
The offence contravened Section 406(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the offence carries a penalty of 14 years imprisonment.
Chief Magistrate Tajudeen Elias adjourned the case until February 21.
