Nigerian rapper Usman Umar aka SojaBoy has filed for divorce from American Lisa Hamme whom he met over the internet.
The couple who participated in the reality show The 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days spoke for nine months before getting engaged.
SojaBoy, 29, proposed to Hamme, 53, without seeing her in person.
They finally got married in season four of the hit TLC reality show.
The couple has been estranged for more than six months, reports E! News.
In an interview with InTouch, the rapper said the American does not want to accept the divorce papers.
“Lisa and I are no longer together, she was served (papers) last week, and she (doesn’t want to) accept it,” he said, adding that when his lawyer tried to talk to her, she “cut the call”.
SojaBoy added that he is happier “without the drama” in his life.
Though Hamme has not responded to comments on their split, in the past, she has opened up about their relationship being a “romance scam”.
According to Us Weekly, in an Instagram Live, she said: “He used me. He married me just to be on a TV show that people would recognise his name to sell his music… He thinks it’s just him, he thinks he’s going to do what he wants, and he’s never going to apologise for anything he’s ever said bad about me.”
SojaBoy has refuted the claims, saying he was, in fact, the one who was duped into marrying Hamme.
