Singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has deleted a social media post confirming his separation from his wife, actress Annie Idibia, following backlash from fans and celebrities.
On Sunday, the 49-year-old posted a shocking announcement on Instagram, revealing that he and Annie had separated and that divorce proceedings were underway.
The post read in part: “I and Annie Macaulay have been separated for a while now and currently filed for divorce… I would grant a press release soon to say my story.”
The announcement quickly went viral, sparking widespread reactions. Shortly after, 2Baba deleted the post and shared a follow-up message claiming his account had been hacked: “My Instagram account has been hacked, efforts are being carried out to take back control #onelove!”
However, in a later video, 2Baba contradicted the hacking claim and confirmed the initial announcement was true. “Nobody hacked my account, na me talk wetin I won talk,” he said in the video, looking visibly distressed as he drank water from a plastic bottle.
The singer’s actions triggered a wave of criticism from fans and fellow celebrities, many of whom accused him of humiliating Annie.
Actress Mary Njoku wrote, “Bro, Annie has a family o! Your sisters-in-law are many, and we’ve stayed quiet out of respect for her tough choices. But since you’ve decided to humiliate her at her lowest, no wahala. Just make sure she’s healthy and okay because when the time comes, we’ll have plenty of questions for you!”
Reality TV star Mercy Atang commented, “I hope my sister @annieidibia1 is good? I’m hurt, I can’t help the tears. I just want Annie good.”
BBNaija star Khloe expressed disbelief saying, “This period? Like this time? This season? Hell no 💔. See ehn, make I just no talk anything right now… cos make this be prank o!!!! Men … Fight Annie, fight all of us o … love is really wicked 💔 men ahhh.”
Media personality Toke Makinwa added her voice, saying, “This is wrong on all levels, and you should be ashamed of yourself for bringing this here. Bring it on; if you think she’s alone, let me tell you here that you’ll have to fight all of us.”
Neither Annie Idibia nor her representatives have made any public comments about the situation.
2Baba and Annie, married since 2012, have faced their share of public challenges but have remained one of Nigeria’s most admired celebrity couples. They share two children together.
