The family of legendary musician Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS) over his alleged disappearance, raising concerns that he may be missing.
On Friday, a letter from the family’s legal representatives, Anuge, Anuge & Co, dated February 7 called for urgent intervention, stating that the 49-year-old has been unreachable since Monday, February 10.
The development comes amid ongoing divorce proceedings between 2Baba and his wife, Annie Idibia, and his engagement to Natasha Osawaru Igbinedion, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly.
Titled “Petition for the intervention of the Department of State Services regarding the disappearance of Mr. Innocent Idibia,” the letter detailed that the singer left his residence in the early hours of February 10 dressed in loungewear, suggesting he had stepped out for his routine walk. However, he never returned home.
“We are writing to urgently seek your assistance regarding a deeply troubling situation involving a member of the Idibia Family, Mr. Innocent Idibia (also known as Tuface or 2Baba), who our clients reasonably believe may be missing since Monday, 10th February 2025.”
“It is our brief that Mr. Innocent left his residence in the early hours of 10th February, 2025 in his loungewear suggestive that he was going on his habitual walk but never returned home since then.
“Despite the best efforts of members of his family, his staff, and management of his Record Label to reach or locate him, including reaching out to his friends and acquaintances; they have been unable to establish any contact or ascertain his whereabouts.”
The letter further stated that all efforts by his family, record label and close associates to contact him had been unsuccessful.
It highlighted that as a high-profile celebrity, 2Baba is usually accompanied by security personnel, but on the day he was last seen, he left alone, without his bodyguards or personal assistant.
“This disturbing discovery and the fact that those who ought to hear from him have not heard from him for over 72 hours have left his entire family deeply concerned.”
Describing the ‘African Queen’ crooner as a responsible family man and dedicated artist, the family stressed that he has never gone missing before or abandoned his work for such an extended period.
“Mr. Innocent is a responsible individual, a family man, and a dedicated Artist who is very passionate about his art and often dedicates the better part of his time to songwriting, recording, and other studio-related activities. He has never gone missing before nor has he ever abandoned his work for such protracted hours.”
The family expressed fears that he may have been abducted and urged the DSS to intervene immediately to ensure his safe return.
“Our humble request is that you intervene urgently to investigate and recover him from wherever the Suspect is currently detaining him. We anticipate your unalloyed cooperation in this regard.”
Meanwhile, 2Baba’s mother, Rose Idibia, has publicly appealed to Edo lawmaker Natasha Osawaru to “free” her son, alleging that the Edo lawmaker placed certain beads on his hands and neck.
She suggested that given his ongoing divorce from Annie, he may not be in the right state of mind to make clear decisions.
Her statement has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with many questioning the nature of 2Baba’s relationship with Natasha.
Hours before the controversy erupted, a video of 2Baba proposing to the lawmaker had gone viral, fueling speculation that their romance is more serious than many initially believed.
Natasha Osawaru, a rising political figure, was elected into the Edo State House of Assembly in April 2023 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
She represents Egor Local Government Area and has been actively involved in legislative matters in the state.
