Natasha Osawaru, lover of music icon 2Baba, has been removed as Minority Leader by the Edo State House of Assembly, following a shift in the balance of power after four Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Osawaru, removal was announced alongside those of Charity Aiguobarueghian, the former Majority Leader and Yekini Idaiye, who served as Chief Whip.
The changes came after the PDP lost its majority status in the Assembly.
Despite the shake-up, Blessing Agbebaku and Maria Edeko, both PDP members, retained their positions as speaker and deputy speaker, respectively.
The reshuffling followed a letter from Jarret Tenebe, acting chairman of the APC in Edo State, notifying the Assembly of the party’s new majority status.
In response, the speaker announced the appointment of Ibhamawu Aigbokhan from Esan West as majority leader, Addeh Isibor from Esan North-East I as deputy leader and Lecky Hussein Mustapha from Etsako West I as chief whip, all of the APC.
Agbebaku noted that the PDP leadership would submit a fresh list of nominees for the remaining principal offices.
He also acknowledged that his own position as speaker and that of the deputy speaker may be reviewed in light of the power shift.
Meanwhile, Natasha Osawaru has been trending online for personal reasons unrelated to her legislative role.
She recently added “Idibia” to her Instagram bio following the music icon’s proposal to her after confirming his separation from wife Annie Idibia.
Osawaru’s updated bio now reads “Honourable Natasha Idibia,” a move that has drawn public attention amid ongoing developments in her personal and political life.
