Nigerians have criticised Afro-fusion singer, Burna Boy, for saying that nobody paved the way for his success in recent times.
Burna enjoyed a stellar 2019 headlining shows, breaking records and getting international recognition, top of which was the Grammy nomination for Best World Music Album which he lost to Angelique Kidjo.
After claiming on Wednesday to be the best after the days of Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Burna clashed with a blogger identified as Jezzy Joseph on Twitter.
The ‘African Giant’ singer told the blogger that nobody paved the way for him, alleging that Nigerian artistes in the past paid The West to accept Afrobeat.
However, Nigerians on Twitter say Burna Boy should acknowledge 2Face, D’banj, Wizkid, Psquare and others as pacesetters.
