Pop musician, 2Face Idibia, has announced that he is set to receive an academic honour from the department of music at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).
The 43-year-old musician announced this via Instagram on Monday.
“The great people of OAU will on wednesday, confer on me the award of the fellow of the school of music. I will also be delivering a public lecture. Industry meets Academia. Grateful for the honour,” he wrote.
The award and lecture is being set up to honour the longevity of 2face Idibia in the Nigerian music scene.
He has maintained a presence in the music industry spanning over two decades.
Formerly as a member of the pop band, Plantashun Boiz, with whom he released two successful albums: Body and Soul (2000) and Sold Out (2003) prior to their disbanding in 2004.
2face released his debut solo album Face 2 Face (2004), which established him as a viable solo artist and he has enjoyed multiple success since then.
