Prior to his appointment on Thursday, many Nigerians probably didn’t know about Super Falcons coach, Thomas Dennerby.
Despite being a household name in Sweden, the 58-year-old had a faint reputation outside his home.
Dennerby, who has been inactive for almost five years, seem poised to leave his comfort zone.

Being the coach of the female side, his portfolio would definitely interest Nigerian ladies.
Here are three important facts.
1. Once a police officer
Dennerby endured a modest playing career. The closest he came to the national team was with the U21’s. So in order to make ends meet, he resorted to a part-time job. He chose the Police. He continued with the job before ultimately delving into management.
2. Never worked outside his home
Both as a player and coach, Dennerby has never tested his might outside his native Sweden. He kitted for just local two sides, Hammarby and Sparvagens. While he also managed seven clubs besides the Swedish women’s national team.
3. Starred in a TV series
Dennerby was one of the cast in a popular television series tagged The other sport. The documentary which debuted in 2013, x-rayed the conditions of women’s football in Sweden from the mid-1960s till date.
