The Kano State Fire Service on Tuesday said that a three-month-old baby died in a fire incident in a two-bedroom apartment.
The baby, Mohammed Sani, died when
Kano Fire Service spokesman, Saidu Mohammed said: “We received a distress call this morning (Tuesday) from one Hajiya Laraba Usman at about 10:01 a.m. that there was a fire outbreak at a house.
“We quickly dispatched our men to the scene and brought the fire under control.”
Mr Mohammed said the mother, who was alone with the child, had run out in search of help from neighbours when the fire started but they could not rescue the child.
The body of the baby has been handed to the father, Mohammed Abuabakar, the spokesman added.
He said investigation had commenced to determine the cause of the incident.
