The ongoing Big Brother Naija in South Africa lived up to expectation on Tuesday, January 31 when Tboss and Miyonse got freaky under the sheets.
That was not the first time a female Nigerian housemate wrote her name into Reality TV show folklore by expose her vitals on live television.
Below are the three Nigerians who will always be remembered for giving Big Brother more than an eyeful.
Note that this does not include shower hour as bathing naked is a basic requirement for participating in the show.
- Ofunneka Molokwu
Big Brother Africa 2 which ran from August 5 to November 11, 2007 produced the infamous “fingergate” involving Nigeria’s Ofunneka Molokwu and then 24-year-old Tanzanian student, Richard Bezuidenhout. On Saturday, October 27, Ofunneka, who celebrated her 30th birthday four days after entering the Big Brother House in South Africa, became inebriated and practically passed out on the bed. An equally drunk newly married Richard, who was carrying out an affair with Angolan housemate, Tatiana Durão, then inserted his fingers into the Nigerian’s vagina, stroking her as she moaned along. Tatiana, who was also lying on the bed, raised an alarm, prompting producers to hurriedly send paramedics to get Richard off Ofunneka and lock him in the diary room. Some viewers accused the Tanzanian of assault, but his alleged victim later said “I am sure I was not raped”. In spite of public outcry, Richard won that edition of Big Brother Africa, beating Ofunneka to second place. Nigerians were outraged and federal lawmakers summoned MultiChoice officials, a move which eventually led to the restriction on broadcast of the show’s shower hour to Nigeria. The founder of Ofunneka Youth Empowerment Trust Fund got married to Chika Anyanwu in December 2010 and was delivered of a girl in 2011.
- Beverly Osu
Ofunneka might have acted under the influence of alcohol, but Beverly Osu, a model and video vixen, went into a bathtub romp with Angelo Collins with her senses intact. The eight edition of the continent-wide show was dubbed Big Brother Africa: The Chase. It began on May 26 2013 and ran for 91 days ending on August 25, 2013. Twenty-eight housemates were divided into two houses and the Nigerian wasted little time running after the South African dance instructor. Then 21, Beverly had publicly confessed to sleeping with men for money. With $300,000 up for grab and a list of controversy long enough to make Maheeda blush, Ms Osu became the first Nigerian to have consensual sex in the Big Brother House since the show went pan-African in 2003. Her antics earned her fifth place at the end of the show. She followed up her Big Brother appearance with glamour modelling and a literature of naked pictures titled Beverly Book of Pose.
- Tboss
Less than two weeks after the opening of Big Brother Naija in South Africa, Tokunbo Idowu, aka Tboss, made a statement of intent by stripping down to her waist, exposing her pierced nipples, in the morning of Tuesday, January 31. By night, the 32-year-ols was in bed with Miyonse, 24, for what many believe to be the first making out on the show. In clips that have gone viral online, Miyonse’s right hand is seen moving over Tboss’ body as she appears to pleasure herself under the duvet. With the young man nominated for the first eviction on Sunday, that act might have bought him more time on the show.
Bonus: The only female Nigerian to have won the reality TV show is Karen Igho, co-winner of Big Brother Amplified in 2011. She did that without wanton nudity, denying media reports that she once worked as a stripper.
