Three persons have tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Katsina State, Governor Aminu Masari has said.
It was learnt that the positive cases were among the 23 people who had contact with the state’s index case, a medical doctor, who died recently.
Masari told reporters on Friday that a total of 23 samples were sent for tests after the death of the index case and three, including the deceased’s wife and two of his children, returned positive.
“Already, the patients are being evacuated to an isolation center located at the Federal Medical Centre, Katsina for treatment,” he said.
Masari also directed immediate lockdown in Daura Local Government, adding that selected pharmaceutical shops and food stores would be allowed to operate under strict supervision.
President Muhammadu Buhari is a native of Daura.
