President of Home Science Association Secondary School (HSASS), Ajegunle-Alakuko, Lagos, Anna Amodu, will on January 28 ring the bell at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in Lagos.
The ringing of the opening bell, Investopedia says, refers to the moment securities exchange opens for its normal daily trading session.
The ringing of the bell is part of programmes marking the school’s 30th anniversary.
The school’s vice-principal and chairman of the organising committee, B. F Adepoju, said the celebration for the 30th anniversary commences on January 27 with a medical outreach and road walk.
Also on the same day, a friendly match will take place between HSASS and Christ the King College, Gbagada, Lagos.
On January 28, apart from the visit to the NSE, there will also be inter-schools debate and variety day.
The school will have a thanksgiving service, anniversary speech and luncheon on January 29.
Since it was established and started taking part in the examinations conducted by the West African Examinations Council, HSASS students have recorded commendable success, according to data.
The school’s principal, John Kenny Olokose, has brought several innovations to the running of the school, including a Career Day talk.
Last year, The Nation newspaper editor, Niyi Adesina, and ace broadcaster, Doyin Kukoyi, were among those who tutored the students on how to chart their career path.
