About 38 suspects have escaped from custody of the Enugu State Police Command.
The suspects escaped from police cells at the State Criminal Investigation Department inside the state police headquarters on Sunday night, sources told PUNCH.
It was gathered that the suspects were remanded at the cells by magistrate courts during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown to decongest the Nigerian Correctional Service in the state.
Enugu Commissioner of Police Ahmad Abdurrahman did not answer calls on his cell phone for reaction, the newspaper said.
