Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) have sacked Fatai Amao as technical adviser in an ongoing purge following the club’s relegation from the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).
Management of the club equally said that it is reviewing the status of all the remaining technical crew members, saying that decision will soon be made on them.
In a statement issued in Ibadan on Monday by the club Media Officer, Jubril Arowolo, the management confirmed that Mr. Amao will not be leading the team in the Nigeria National League (NNL) campaign next season, noting that the team will forever be grateful for the former technical adviser’s commitment and input to the team.
Jubril explained that the management came to the conclusion to terminate Amao’s contract after reviewing the performance of the team in the NPFL last season, adding that the positions of other technical crew members are also under review.
“The management acknowledged the effort of Mr Fatai Amao to inspire the team during the failed season. We wish Mr. Amao success in his future endeavours as we will not forget his positive impact on the team,” Jubril said.
Amao was appointed coach in November 2016 as replacement for Gbenga Ogunbote who saved the club from relegation in the previous season.
He signed a tw0-year contract, saying “I want to make name for myself and 3SC. I have travelled a little bit and wherever I go, people always ask for Shooting Stars and Rangers and that tells you 3SC is a big club and we must make it great again. I am ready to take up the task and by the grace of God, we will conquer.”
Amao had previously coached the club from 2009 to 2011.
