The last leg of the internet-breaking wedding between Banky W and Adesua Etomi holds in Cape Town, South Africa this weekend.
Family, friends and fans have already been treated to the couple’s engagement, family introduction, traditional wedding and civil ceremony.
These are four of the things to look out for on the final lap of what is tagged #BAAD2017.
- Ebuka’s outfit
If there was a price for the standout man at the traditional ceremony held in Lagos, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu would have beaten everybody the way Governor Willie Obiano defeated others in the Anambra governorship election. The lawyer and media personality stole the show with his bespoke agbada. So creative was the design that “Ebuka” and “agbada” trended on Twitter for two days. The last time the 35-year-old created so much buzz was when he presented Big Brother Naija in South Africa with a bulge in his trousers. All eyes will be on him to see if he can reprise what he did last week.
- The usual suspects
Banky W belongs to a clique that includes Tunde Demuren, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Noble Igwe and Olamide Adedeji, all of whom got married before him. There are many others but the names mentioned have stuck with the groom every step of the way. The men and their wives are already in Cape Town painting the town red.
- Adesua’s squad
Although not as popular and often less visible than Banky W’s, Adesua also has a group of friends who are ready to turn up for the wedding in South Africa. Each of them paid N45,000 for the aso ebi used for the traditional ceremony in Lagos.
- Social media storm
Adesua Banky W and Adesua first set tongues wagging when they starred as bride and groom in The Wedding Party. The announcement of their engagement in May broke the internet in Nigeria. Since then, hashtags like #bankysua, #bankyadesua and the official #BAAD2017 have become a hit on social media. As the couple walks down the aisle, is a no-brainer that #BAAD2017 will trend once again this weekend.
