Nigerian celebrities are versatile in the use of Instagram and other social media tools as a means to reach out directly to their fans.
That has made life easier for the celebrities who no longer have to organise the odd press conferences before their information get across to their audience.
With Davido setting a new milestone on Instagram this week, we look at 5 most followed Nigerian music stars on the most popular photo-sharing app.
- Davido
The 24-year-old became the most followed Nigerian celebrity on Instagram on Tuesday with 5 million followers.
Without a doubt, that also makes him the most followed Nigerian on Instagram.
That title does not extend to Twitter though, where with 2.78 million followers, Davido ranks behind Wizkid who has over 3.24million followers.
- Wizkid
Wizkid comes behind Davido when it comes to Instagram with 4 million followers.
The 27-year-old was recently compared by some millennials to the late Afrobeat creator, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, after his sold-out show at the Royal Albert Hall in London last weekend.
- Tiwa Savage
Tiwa Savage comes third on the list with 3.7 million followers behind Wizkid who she recently featured on the track, ‘Ma Lo’ off her new EP, Sugarcane.
The 37-year-old singer has 1.96 million followers on Twitter.
- Don Jazzy
Michael Collins Ajereh, better called Don Jazzy, comes behind his Mavin Record’s Tiwa Savage with 3.4 million Instagram followers.
He, however, beats her on Twitter with 2.32 million followers.
The 34-year-old producer is one of the closest to followers as he regularly jokes and shares ideas and information with them.
- Peter Okoye
If the war between Peter and Paul Okoye of P-Square were to be fought on social media, the former will win by miles.
With three 3 million followers, Mr P is the fifth most followed Nigerian musician on Instagram.
That almost doubles his brother who has 1.6million.
On Twitter Peter has 1.48m, while Peter has 706k.
