One of the frontrunners in the February 25, 2023 presidential election in Nigeria is Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former Lagos governor belongs to the same party as incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.
Among those driving Tinubu’s campaign are entertainers, with actresses playing a major role.
Here are five of the actresses campaigning for the man they call City Boy.
Toyin Abraham
The 40-year-old declared her love for the man called Asiwaju on Friday, January 13 during an appearance on TVC although she claimed she had not decided if she would vote for him.
Expectedly, she has since announced that she will vote for Tinubu.
Writing in a Twitter post on Tuesday, February 22, the mother of one said “I’m voting Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for President. I believe he is a better administrator.”
Eniola Badmus
Eniola Badmus declared her support for Tinubu before he won the APC presidential ticket in June 2022.
The 40-year-old has gone on to attend Tinubu’s rallies in different states and even took a picture with him in Akwa Ibom. In January.
Meanwhile, her friend Funke Akindele is the deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos.
Joke Silva
The veteran actress is the chairman of the creative and entertainment industries committee of the Tinubu/Shettima women presidential campaign council.
She attended the council’s inauguration in Abuja in October 2022 and was at a Tinubu rally in Lagos in the same month.
The 61-year-old was also at the grand finale of Tinubu’s campaign at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos on Tuesday, February 21.
Mercy Johnson
Like Joke Silva, Mercy Johnson is a member of the Tinubu/Shettima women presidential campaign council.
Her husband, Odi Okojie, is also contesting to represent Esan North-East/Esan South-East Constituency of Edo State in the House of Representatives on the APC platform.
The 38-year-old mother of four has appeared at campaign rallies for her husband, Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos.
Foluke Daramola
Foluke Daramola is supporting Tinubu although her husband Kayode Salako was chairman of Peter Obi’s Labour Party (LP) in Lagos State until January.
Many accused Mr Salako of working secretly for the APC, prompting his exit as LP chairman to contest the Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 1 seat of Lagos in the House of Representatives.
Meanwhile, Foluke is the assistant director for the media department of the performing arts directorate of the APC presidential campaign council.
