A 50-year-old woman Folashade Ajayi has enrolled in Ilorin Grammar School in Kwara State after completing her primary education in adult school.
She had initially visited the state ministry of education to tell them of her intention to further her education.
In an interview she granted Just Event Online TV, Ajayi said she was 50 years old and that she was in school to achieve her dream of becoming a classroom teacher.
However, principal of the school Abdulrahman Akyede told BBC Pidgin that the woman was about 38 years old and is in J.S.S. 1.
Mr Akyede said she is the oldest student they’ve ever had in the school.
He said the ministry of education directed her to the school, adding that they could not reject her seeing her willingness to learn.
He added that she came with her primary school certificate which she collected from the adult school, and that they wanted to put her in J.S.S 2 but she did not pass the examination.
Akyede said she joined the school last week and that the other students were not giving her any problem.
