- Premier League clubs make record spending
The 2016 summer will be remembered as the one for which Premier League clubs finally broke the £1bn spending spree. An additional £200,000 was spent eclipsing the previous record in a single summer.
- Wilshere flees to Bournemouth
One-time Arsenal golden boy, Jack Wilshere, unbelievably completed a loan move away from the Emirates on deadline day. The England international will receive a whooping £6m before kicking a ball — a £2m loan fee plus £80,000 a week basic wages.
- Luiz returns to Chelsea
We thought we’d never see this happening – but it did. David Luiz made a sensational return to Chelsea from Paris Saint-Germain on deadline day. The Brazilian joins for £32m – £18m less than what the Blues received for selling him to the Paris club two years ago.
- Balotelli ends Liverpool nightmare
Mario Balotelli finally ended his appalling relationship with Liverpool to join French side, Nice. The striker, who moved to the Reds from AC Milan for £16m, was told never to return to Anfield after spending last season in Italy.
- Sissoko breaks Everton hearts
French midfielder, Moussa Sissoko, was believed to be on his way to Everton but shockingly opted for Tottenham. He joins from Newcastle for £30m.
- Joe Hart gets Torino lifeline
Dropped for Willy Cabellero who Pep Guardiola favoured, Manchester City fans favourite, Joe Hart, completed a season-long loan deal to Italian side, Torino, following the arrival of Claudio Bravo.
- M’Vila’s Sunderland agony
Rubin Kazan’s Yann M’Vila was left ‘heartbroken’ after his deadline day transfer to Sunderland fell through at the last minute. “I called Sunderland but they are not picking up the phone why? My heart has broken,” the Frenchman said.
