Super Eagles skipper, Mikel Obi, on Saturday led some of his national teammates in paying tribute to Nigeria for the country’s 56th Independence Day celebration.
His club, Chelsea, also congratulated Africa’s most populous nation on the milestone.
Many of the country’s top football players, however, failed to acknowledge the day but could be pardoned due to club involvement.
Below are some of the messages from members of the senior national team.
