A 70-year-old man in Charo Katurke Village, Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State, Ahmadu Haladu, has died after falling into a pit toilet.
Spokesman of Kano State Fire Service, Saidu Mohammed, said the incident occurred around 11.30 am on Thursday.
The septuagenarian had gone to ease himself in the toilet when the latrine sank.
“Haladu was rescued unconscious and later confirmed dead; his corpse was handed to the Ward Head of Charo Katurke, Alhaji Abdullahi Charo,” Mr. Mohammed said.
The spokesman advised against the use of old wells as pit latrines.
