An attack by suspected bandits in Avong Doka village, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State has left about nine persons dead and many injured.
Chairman of Kajuru LGA, Cafra Caino, told Channels Television that the gunmen invaded the village early Wednesday.
He said the gunmen shot indiscriminately on arrival in the village. Children are believed to be part of the victims.
The incident comes barely one week after gunmen burnt down several houses at a rural grazing area settlement in Agwala Dutse village also in Kajuru LGA.
Mr Caino said injured persons are receiving treatment at an undiscolosed hospital.
He added that the casualty figures would have been higher but for prompt arrival of soldiers to the village.
