Immediate past Governor of Lagos State and current Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, clocked 54 on Wednesday.
To celebrate the man popularly known as BRF, here are nine things you should know about him.
- He was born in Lagos on June 28 1963. His late father is, Ademola Fashola, worked with Daily Times of Nigeria, rising to become the deputy general manager in charge of the advert department.
- Fashola attended Birch Freeman High school Lagos and Igbobi College Lagos.
- He graduated from the University of Benin with a Bachelor of Laws, LL.B. (Hon) in 1987.
- Was called to Bar in November 1988.
- He is the first member of the Nigerian Law School graduating class of 1988 to be conferred with the professional rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
- Fashola was chief of staff to his predecessor governor, Bola Tinubu, and the commissioner to the governor’s office. He was the first person ever to hold both offices simultaneously.
- He is married to Abimbola Fashola and they are blessed with three children – all male.
- He was governor of Lagos State from 2007 to 2015.
- He was appointed minister of power, works and housing, a first of its kind by President Muhammadu Buhari in November 2015.
