Euro 2016: Who have qualified?

Euro 2016With the 2016 European Championships to feature 24 teams – as opposed to the usual 16 – for the first time ever, the qualification process is more confusing than ever.

From the 53 teams that started the long road to France back in September 2014 England, Iceland, the Czech Republic and Austria have sealed their places alongside hosts Les Bleus of course.

So who’s who in the zoo of qualification? We’ve broken it down, group-by-group.

Who have already qualified?

France (hosts), Iceland, Czech Republic, England, Austria

Which 24 teams qualify?

The nine group winners and nine runners-up along with the top-ranked third-placed side book their spot in the tournament.

Who contests the playoffs?

The eight remaining third-placed teams will contest play-offs in mid-November to determine the last four participants for the finals, which kick off at the Stade de France on June 10.
