Omolola Edewo, the first daughter of the acclaimed winner of the 1993 presidential election, Moshood Abiola also known as MKO, was on Wednesday confirmed by the Senate as Executive Director, Corporate Services, Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation(NDIC).
Ms Edewo is a former member of House of Representatives.
She will now serve her second and final term of five years as executive director.
Chairman of Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, Senator Rafiu Adebayo, read the presentation at plenary on Wednesday where he recommended her confirmation after screening by the committee.
Senator Barau Jibrin (APC-Kano) seconded the committee’s recommendation saying that “the nominee has shown to be eminently qualified and by her pedigree she is qualified to be confirmed.”
The committee had on April 18 screened the nominee and promised to refer the report to the Senate in plenary.
