President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived in Maiduguri, capital of Borno State, on a one-day official visit.
Mr Buhari arrived at the Maiduguri International Airport at about 10.45 am on Thursday.
He was received by Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima, his deputy, Usman Durkwa, federal and state lawmakers.
He was also received by Minister of State for Works, Baba Shehuri, theatre commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Johnson Akinrouluyo, and other heads of security agencies, community and religious leaders.
Borno State Government had declared Thursday a public holiday ahead of the president’s visit.
Buhari’s Maiduguri trip comes a day after he visited Lagos to commission state-executed projects.
The president will in Maiduguri inaugurate various projects executed by the State Government in Maiduguri metropolis such as Borno State University, Maiduguri Industrial hub, schools, roads and re-modelled Maiduguri Specialist Hospital.
Buhari would also pay a courtesy visit to the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn El-Kanemi.
He is then expected to proceed to the United Kingdom on a 10-day visit.
