Lagos monarch, Saheed Elegushi, celebrates ninth coronation anniversary

Elegushi of Ikateland, His Royal Majesty Oba Saheed Elegushi, Kusenla III, has celebrated his ninth coronation anniversary.

In a message posted on Instagram, the 42-year-old asked people irrespective of religion to pray for him and his kingdom.

His prayer point is that “the Almighty God would continue to give me wisdom and strength to carry out the promises that I need for our Great Kingdom and Nigeria.”

Today as we mark the 9th year Anniversary of my Coronation, I ask you all, whatever your religion, to pray for me and The Great Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom. That the Almighty God would continue to give me wisdom and strength to carry out the promises that I need for our Great Kingdom and Nigeria. Throughout today- this memorable day, I have been uplifted and sustained by the knowledge that your thoughts and prayers have been with me. I have been aware all the time that my people, spread far and wide, were united nine years ago to support me in the task to which I have now been dedicated with such solemnity. Therefore I am sure that this, my 9th year Coronation anniversary, is not the symbol of a power and a splendour that are gone but a declaration of our hopes for the future, and for the years I may, by God's Grace and Mercy, be given to reign and serve you as your Oba. I thank you all from a full heart. God bless you all and May God continue to bless Ikate-Elegushi, Lagos State and our dear country, Nigeria.

The 21st monarch of Ikate-Elegushi was said to be the youngest Lagos monarch on his coronation on April 27, 2010.

He was born on April 10, 1976 into the royal Elegushi family, from Kusenla ruling house of Ikateland, Lagos State.

Before his coronation, the monarch was part of the administration of former Lagos governor, Bola Tinubu, and also that of Babatunde Fashola as senior special assistant in charge of special duties.

He is credited with transforming the ancient waterfront land to a model royal kingdom.

Oba Saheed Elegushi is married and blessed with children.
