Former President Goodluck Jonathan has requested Muslims to pray for a ‘country filled with peace, harmony, and joy’ during the month of Ramadan.
Muslims officially kicked off Ramadan, the month of fasting and alms giving, on Monday after the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, announced on Sunday the beginning of Ramadan on sighting the new moon.
In a thread of tweets on Monday, Jonathan asked Muslims to pray for the country and also wished them a ‘blessed’ Ramadan.
“As today marks the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, I urge our Muslim brothers and sisters to pray for a country filled with peace, harmony, and joy,” he began.
“It is also my sincere wish that the mercy of Allah will guide you all to achieve the desired purification of the soul. Wishing you a blessed and Happy Ramadan!”
