Nigerians have asked Mary Odili, wife of former Rivers State Governor, Peter Odili, to recuse herself from matters involving the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Supreme Court.
Mrs Odili was appointed an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria by former President Goodluck Jonathan.
She was administered the oath of office by former Chief Justice Katsina-Alu on June 23, 2011.
With the rate of cases being appealed at the Supreme Court, most recently that of Senator Ademola Adeleke against the verdict of the Court of Appeal which upheld APC’s Gboyega Oyetola as Osun State Governor; Nigerians say Odili might be biased in her review of such cases.
They also called on Justices Zainab Buckachuwa, Binta Nyarko, and Bode Rhodes-Vivour to recuse themselves also on allegations of bias.
