Ivorian footballer, Yaya Toure, has officially announced his retirement from football.
His agent, Dimitri Seluk, made the retirement public on his behalf in an interview with a Russian media house.
“I say this for the first time: Yaya decided to end his career as a champion.
“The farewell match, when he won the Premier League title with Manchester City was, in principle, the real end of his playing career. Not only in this team, but in general.”
“Yaya is one of the best players in Africa and he had one of the brightest careers in the history of African football.
“Therefore, he should also leave football beautifully, at the peak. We talked for a long time on this topic,” he said.
Toure left England at the end of the 2017-18 campaign, after winning his last league title with Manchester City, earning over 100 caps for his country.
The final outings of his career came during a brief spell at Greek giants, Olympiakos.
The ex-Ivory Coast international won a Champions League title at Barcelona and is set to explore a move into coaching and management.
