Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has received the two persons who were recently held in Saudi Arabia over drug trafficking offences, Zainab Aliyu and Ibrahim Abubakar.
Ganduje received them on Wednesday in Kano.
Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Diaspora Commission (NDC), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, was at the meeting.
Ganduje also pledged to support Zainab and Ibrahim with N3 million each.
Zainab, a student of Maitama Sule University, Kano, was arrested at a Saudi airport after a banned drug, tramadol, was found in her bag.
She claimed unknown persons planted it in her luggage.
The student had reportedly travelled from Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in company with her mother, Maryam Aliyu, and sister, Hajara Aliyu, but was arrested over allegations that a bag bearing her nametag contained the unlawful substance.
Ibrahim was arrested for the same alleged offence.
