Nigerian arrested in Malaysia over murder of nurse

The police in Malaysia have obtained a seven-day court order to hold a Nigerian man believed to be the main suspect in the attack and death of the head nurse at Serdang Hospital.

Magistrate A Akhiruddin@Boy Acho issued the remand order, which begins on Friday and expires May 22, Harian Metro reported.

The Nigerian man in his 30s, identified as Aliwajuwon Gilbertalowonle, who had been on the run was arrested yesterday and taken to the Sepang Court Complex at 11.12am Malaysian time on Friday.

Two other suspects, a Pakistani man and a Nigerian woman, aged 38 and 35 respectively, who were detained on Thursday, were also remanded seven days to assist with investigations.

Siti Kharina Mohd Kamaruddin’s bloodied body was found in a condominium in Cyberjaya on Wednesday.

Selangor Criminal Investigations Department chief, Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat, said the suspect was arrested when he was spotted at the lower ground floor of Cheras Sentral shopping mall.

“The suspect attempted to evade arrest and a scuffle ensued, he was eventually arrested.

“Police will obtain a remand order on the suspect tomorrow,” he said in a statement.
