Justice I.N. Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered that musician, Naira Marley, be remanded in prison over allegations of internet fraud brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The singer, born Azeez Fashola, will be in the custody of the anti-graft agency till the hearing of his bail application on May 30.
Naira Marley is facing 11 counts bordering on cybercrime for allegedly conniving with one Yad Isril (at large) to use Access card issued to other persons in a bid to obtain gain, an offence contrary to Section 27(1) (b) of the Cybercrime Prohibition, Prevention Act 2015.
He pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him on Monday.
The judge adjourned till May 30 to take the bail application filed by the defence counsel, Taiwo Oreagba, on behalf of his client.
The ‘Am I a Yahoo Boy?’ singer was arrested on May 10 alongside colleague, Omoniyi Raphael, popularly known as Zlatan, and three others.
Zlatan Ibile and the others were released on Tuesday last week.
