Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, has emerged chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum.
An aide to the governor, Fidelis Soriwei, in a statement said the forum’s former chairman, Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State, announced Dickson’s emergence after a meeting at the Gombe State Governor’s Lodge, Abuja on Wednesday night.
The meeting was attended by Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; PDP national chairman, Uche Secondus; the party’s Vice-Presidential candidate during the general election, Peter Obi; Imo State Governor-elect, Emeka Ihedioha; among others.
Dickson used to be the chairman of PDP’s Standing Committee on Reconciliation.
He is also chairman of South South Governors Forum and also co-chairman of Southern Governors Forum.
After presenting Dickson as the forum’s new head, Dankwambo said the forum was worried over the country’s security challenges and its effect on food production.
He said the governors decried the situation as farmers are now scared of going to farms for fear of being killed or kidnapped.
They called on President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a state of emergency on security.
