Vincent EnyeamaNigeria goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama,  was shown a straight red card when his club, Lille, visited high flying Stade Rennais FC in a French Ligue 1 encounter played at Roazhon Park on Friday.

With Lille already in front through Moroccan, Sofiane Boufal, in the 49th minute, Enyeama was shown his matching orders after he was adjudged to have clipped Rennes attacker, Giovanni Sio, who was put through on goal with less than 20 minutes to play.

A penalty was subsequently awarded to the disbelief of the away bench who protested the call but it fell on deaf.

Rookie goalie, Mike Maignan, spared Enyeama’s blushes after saving the resulting spot kick but was beaten in only a matter of minutes by Paul-Georges Ntep, bringing the game level.

The result means Rennes are now level on points with leaders, Paris Saint-Germain, who have a superior goal difference, while Lille who drew for the fourth time this season are tenth.

Enyeama has now kept clean sheets in all his last five matches for the club, conceding only once this season against PSG in the league opener on August 7.
