Immediate past minister of sports, Solomon Dalung, has boasted that nobody born of a woman can stop President Muhammadu Buhari from re-appointing him.
Mr Dalung said this while speaking with Punchng.com on crisis in the basketball, athletics and football federations, and crisis in the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, during his time as minister.
“No, there is nobody born of a woman that can stop my appointment if God wants it to be. I am not carried away by such sentiments,” Dalung said while answering questions about forces allegedly working against his reappointment.
Dalung, who made several controversial statements as minister, promised to focus on building on “very viable grassroots development architecture” if re-appointed.
Dalung said he would work closely with governors to develop grassroots sports as “some states don’t have any stadium.”
The former minister was enmeshed in last-minute crisis when he refused to return some $130,000 which the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), now World Athletics, said it erroneously paid to the Athletic Federation of Nigeria.
IAAF later announced after Dalung’s departure as sports minister that the matter had been resolved.
