Comedian and celebrity mimic, Funny Toheeb, has said that he was arrested on Tuesday by the police and accused of internet fraud known locally as ‘Yahoo Yahoo.’
Toheeb, who has built a brand around making spin-offs of celebrity looks, posted a picture of himself on Instagram Wednesday at a police station holding a laptop.
“When will Nigeria police listen and stop harassing youths???… this is me yesterday in police custody, allegedly accused of Yahoo Yahoo… 🤦🏽♂ it’s not even funny,” he wrote.
Funny Toheeb has mimicked numerous Nigerian celebrities like DJ Cuppy, Anita Joseph, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Rita Dominic, Mercy Aigbe, Nina Ivy, Kizz Daniel, Wizkid, and Don Jazzy.
He has built followership of over 600,000 people on photo-sharing platform, Instagram.
The comedian was featured by BBC Africa where he was quoted as saying, “I wasn’t born with a silver spoon. I want to change my family’s history.”
