Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has constituted a panel to visit Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE), Omu-Ijebu, over the worsening standard of education at the institution.
This was contained in a statement on Tuesday by his spokesman, Kunle Somorin.
The statement said the panel would be led by Prof. Kamal Balogun of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye.
According to the statement, the panel will inter alia, assess the current status of the institution with a view to ascertaining the attainment or otherwise of the objectives and law that established it.
It said that the panel would identify the challenges hindering the institution from achieving its objectives.
The panel would also examine the financial management of the institution and determine whether the funds from various sources have been prudently applied.
The statement said that the governor was worried by the poor state of affairs and infrastructure at the school and called for stakeholders’ intervention on issues of content, quality and staffing.
“Ogun state is a front-runner in education and cannot afford to endure mediocrity and the state government would do everything humanly possible to reverse the slide to decadence observable form the way TASCE is currently operating,” the statement said.
