Several persons were injured on Thursday night in Owerri, Imo State capital, when armed youths attached to Imo State Task Force on Recovery of Government Assets invaded a shopping mall owned by daughter of former Governor Rochas Okorocha.
About six persons were injured in the mall, House of Freeda, in an invasion spearheaded by chairman of the task force, Jasper Ndubuaku.
Mr Ndubuaku had alleged that Mr Okorocha and members of his family carted away government property such as generating sets, chairs, television sets, kitchen utensils, beddings and cutlery all valued at over N50 billion.
The men left the mall with merchandise including electronic appliances which they alleged belonged to the government.
Sources said they were aided by armed policemen.
A sales representative alleged that the men also made away with N12.5 million cash.
It was gathered that a vehicle belonging to Reach FM, a radio station suspected to be owned by a member of the Okorocha family, was impounded while the driver was beaten blue black.
Spokesman to Governor Emeka Ihedioha, Steve Osuji, said the committee acted on information that government vehicles and other items were kept at the complex.
Mr Osuji alleged that the committee members, who were on official duty, were attacked by thugs hired by the owners of the complex to prevent them from carrying out their legitimate assignment.
