Immediate past governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, has said that he is not celebrating worsened killings in Zamfara, adding that he had been vindicated over allegations of his involvement in the killings.
Yari said this on Sunday while addressing members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at Talata-Mafara.
He said some people pointed fingers at him during his tenure whenever there was an attack in any community but that “now that I’m not in power, the situation has worsened.”
He said: “I’m neither celebrating what is currently happening nor am I happy with the sad development in our state but l must draw the attention of the mischief-makers that no right thinking leader will partake in the killings or arrange the killing of his people.”
The former governor said he did all he could to control banditry activities during his administration.
“I told the new governor that he should not play with the issue of security and I also told him that no matter how hard he tries, people will still accuse him of incompetence.
“We will closely monitor their activities and comment quickly and positively whenever something goes wrong because we want development in our state,” he said.
Yari advised APC supporters in the state to remain united and continue supporting the party to win back the governorship seat in 2023.
